[ It has been an obnoxiously long day. Actually, it's been a very long week. The planning, the comparing, the struggle to find the best quality but cheapest package, the preparations, the packing, weighing the luggage over and over so they don't have to check bags, the airport, the flight, the constant reassurance that little Lodewijk will be ALRIGHT with Luxembourg... by the end of it all she was starting to wonder if her idea was a good one. But they've finally arrived and whether it be out of frustration or relief, the place seems a lot nicer than she initially imagined.
There's a chill in the air but the sun does peek through the overcast snow clouds. The snow is fresh and beautiful and white, not like the gray slush back home. The lodge itself is heavy with the scent of hot smoked meat, old cedar and pine and there's something sweet and warm in the air, pastries perhaps? Fresh bread? The crackle of wood can be heard from the massive fireplace in lodge's common space and on the board with the specials for the day clearly says that they have mulled mead. MULLED MEAD.
She blinks at the sign for a moment, tired but her face lighting up with delight as she gives Ned a gentle tug of his sleeve, trying to pull his attention away from the man grabbing their room keys. ]
Ned, look... they have mulled mead. I haven't had mead in so so long.

Heading out for work. Sob. I'll try and tag throughout the day.
noooo work y u do
[grumble grumble]
Sneaking in tags...
She refuses to let him mess up her vacation with his grumpiness. If he wont lighten up and relax then she will. ]

Didn't say anything about yours in front of 'im.
[aka didn't snatch her bags back and run the poor guy off]

I just don't want you to dwell on little things like a bag boy trying to do his job. You need to relax.
[ She turns then, curling her fingers into the crook of his elbows and pressing her nose against his shoulder. ]
Relax and just be with me.

[Okay he was about to grumble about money because really, Bel, it's money, but. Ah. Oh no, cute. He lists into her and scrunches his face, makes a little noncommittal grunt. She's got a point but no promises yet.
Besides, elevators first.]

We can get to our room and settle down before trying to do anything.

Hn.
[Another noncommittal grunt, but this one, at least, is more agreeable. He sidesteps his way around her and into the elevator.]

I wonder what kind of food they have here. Do you think we should try it or would you rather go out for dinner?
[ C'mon Ned, work with her. She's excited just trying to make dinner plans with you. ]
no subject
I uh.
[He has to stop and lick his lips while he curbs the automatic response of "whichever one is cheaper". She likes food, they're on vacation, she won't like that answer.]
Maybe there's a menu in the room.

We'll see. But I want some of that mead regardless.
[ She takes a moment to look over at him as they got up a couple floors, sighing to herself. She really hopes a good night will help him relax for the rest of their vacation. ]
Did you have anything you wanted to do while we're here?

[Yeah, that sounds good. He glances over when she asks, quirks the smallest smile to himself. Hell yeah he does, she's crazy if she doesn't think he has a mental list of things. A lot of them start and end with her, too, but other than the smile he doesn't address that part of it.]
Beat ya down the slope.
[SO HE SUCKS AT SKIING so what. Doesn't mean he's not competitive.]
Sledding, prob'ly. [Definitely. Sledding with her sounds too cute to pass up.] Skating. Movie one night.

Hope you brought your A game then.

[Just grinning right back, but cocky this time.]

Should we make it interesting?
no subject
How.

[ Starts counting on her fingers as she leads them to the room. ]
That includes luggage, food, equipment, my purse... and me when I'm simply too tired to stand anymore.

I'm not carryin' you around the damn lobby, Bel.
[That would look moronic. Another footstep or two later and he continues.]
What do I get. If I win, I mean.
Ya might wanna backtag :)
[ It's as simple as that. ]
And I don't know. You call your terms.
